extra officers to oakland at least for a few more weeks. the city council last night voted to approve $162,000 to continue the program for another 60 days. the chp has been supplementing the understaffed oakland police department at no charge since last november. the agreement was scheduled to end at the end of this month. >>> people in one oakland hills neighborhood have come up with their own plan to deal with the city's understaffed police force. they are paying for private security patrols. 62 households will each pay about 60 bucks a month for one guard to patrol a half mile radius in the oakmoore area. it's led to a rise in home burglaries. >> i would say the last six months it feels worse in the neighborhood. >> some have criticized mayor quan who lives in the oakland moore area. the private patrol is expected to begin in a week. >>> and oakland is one of several local police departments starting to hire more officers according to the "san mateo county times" which did a study of 13 bay area law enforcement agencies including san jose, san f
. >>> another round of rain is moving through the bay area overnight. this is the city last night. let's get the latest from lawrence karnow. >> cold enough out there that i think we are going to see some snow. the sun comes up and it looks like snow across our mountains. it should be interesting this morning as we have some cold temperatures in place and showers beginning to sag a little bit further to the south right now. you can see it on our high-def doppler radar. some of that moisture really south of the golden gate bridge and becoming more widely scattered and i think that will be the case throughout the morning. still, you can see some pockets of moderate amounts of rainfall. you can see that along the 580 near dublin seeing good rainfall there maybe some more snow across the mountains too. snow level down to about 2500 feet. look at that. you can see all that cold air and low, you get an idea of the circulation as the system sags to the south. once it moves by the low will drag the moisture with it. we'll dry out in the afternoon. the temperatur

espinoza out of union city last seen running along the bank of the san lorenzo creek in the area of lewelling boulevard. police initially attempted to make a routine traffic stop. he allegedly got out of his car and took off. an officer caught up with him and tried to make an arrest. he allegedly tried to grab that officer's gun. then the suspect's girlfriend came out of a motel room and distracted the officer. that's when espinoza got away. >>> a santa clara man accused of making a death threat against state senator leland yee will be arraigned today in superior court and this morning, bomb experts continue to search basham's home. they say they found guns and explosive materials inside the house and yesterday they found some explosive devices. >> unlike the substance they found earlier in this investigation, which were incomplete, they were in the process of being completed and finished, these actual items were complete and they were ready to use. >> a police bomb unit from neighboring san jose carefully removed the devices and drove them to
a 13-year-old suisun city girl is due in court wednesday. anthony lamar jones of fairfield was ahe is ared friday. he is suspected of killing genelle conway allen who was found a week earlier in fairfield's allan witt park. restraining order documents obtained by the fairfield daily republic suggest jones had grown increasingly violent in the days before the murder. in the documents jones's estranged wife described a recent incident in which they were together in a car. she says lamar jones said, i don't want to scare you, i have a knife and gun and don't want to die alone. she jumped out of the moving car. the restraining order was issued february1, the day conway allen's body was found. >>> texas governor rick perry is here in california trying to lure away businesses while' high-profile tech company is setting up shop in the silicon valley. kpix 5 reporter elissa harrington is down in sunnyvale where go daddy is about to open an office there. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. the building is right behind me and as godaddy.com opens its
